  • Facebook Opens Its Polling Booths For User Vote On Privacy

Facebook’s users are to vote on its privacy and data sharing policies for the first time since the firm went public earlier this year. Twitter

  • Reality TV viewers flood Twitter during exciting show moments

WaveMetrix analysis reveals that reality TV shows such as The X Factor and I’m A Celebrity attract much higher levels of Twitter engagement than other show types, with peaks at 7.5k during last year’s UK X Factor final. The biggest surges in tweets occur during the shows’ “wow” moments, such as contestants’ performances and eliminations. This is due to the interactive nature of the shows and the fact that viewers are actively involved in their outcome. However, little engagement occurs during ad breaks. This suggests that any tie-ins between the show and social media will be most effective during these key moments.
