Wednesday’s Social TV Must-Reads (Feb. 13)

STVD is on the road, reporting on the second day of the three-day Social TV Thought Leadership Roadshow in New York City.

We are on the 13th floor (that’s right, 13, on the 13th. We think this is lucky) of Carat North America, hearing five Social TV companies explain their services and provide insight onto the industry. The roadshow heads to BBDO in the afternoon and finishes tomorrow with two more agencies. Check our our Twitter feed @socialtvdaily as well as our Facebook.com/socialtvdaily and, of course, on the web.

In addition to the roadshow, we are tracking, like we do every day, our picks of news articles about: TV ratings, technology and advertising news, social media news, as well as sports and the Latin market.

How YouTube is ‘killing’ TV ads

Adds Vineet Gupta, managing partner, 22feet, a digital agency, “The clear trend is to shift from re-purposing (using offline videos) to re-creating content that is relevant to the medium.” Even in terms of spends, there is a significant shift to video. It’s no longer just being siphoned from ‘digital’ budgets but from the cash reserves used for traditional TV commercials, shares Gupta.
