Friday’s TV Highlights: ‘Fringe’ on Fox

CBS celebrates the holidays with a trio of animated specials, starting with the classic “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” (8 p.m.). Then Beatrice Miller, Alfred Molina Neil Patrick Harris and Jennifer Love Hewitt lend their voices to “Yes, Virginia” (9 p.m.), and at 9 p.m. an elf tries to help a young boy who is struggling to believe in Christmas in “The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf’s Story” (9 p.m. CBS).

TV Ratings

(Wednesday)

CBS topped Wednesday despite a series low from CSI. ABC, the usual Wednesday victor, saw its comedies hit season or series lows. Barbara Walters Presents the 10 Most Fascinating People of 2012 (7.6 million, 2.1) was also down from last year’s broadcast.

Programming

  • Foundation behind ’12-12-12′ Concert is determined to get Sandy relief where it’s needed

It will be Monday before the Robin Hood Foundation can give out even a preliminary estimate of how much it raised during Wednesday night’s 12-12-12 Concert at Madison Square Garden. And it will take at least a couple of weeks before substantial amounts of that money start flowing to superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

  • Discovery to buy Nordic TV networks for $1.7B

SILVER SPRING, MD. — The parent company of the Discovery Channel says it’s buying 12 TV networks in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland in a deal worth about $1.7 billion.

  • Aero to add Bloomberg TV

Aereo, the Barry Diller and IAC-backed TV streaming company, has reached a deal to add cable network Bloomberg TV to its lineup, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal.
