The Google TV update also brings a clean, clever revamp of what we normally think of as the TV guide interface. Instead of making you click to a whole other screen — that dreaded scrollable grid listing everything channel by channel — Google TV categorizes channels by genre, like sports, drama, or comedy. Users access them through a pop-up menu that fills the bottom of the screen, revealing poster-like images of what’s playing on each station. This guide, which also prioritizes suggestions based on what you enjoy watching, is called PrimeTime.
