Microsoft XBox Dashboard Update Unfriends Facebook, Twitter Apps

Redmond pulls social-media apps from its game console, leaving players with the option to use its browser. 

Microsoft has removed Facebook and Twitter apps from Xbox 360 as part of its mandatory dashboard upgrade ahead of global roll out Oct.23.Apparently, the move is aimed at increasing Internet Explorer 9 usage on the console. The web browser is being added to Xbox Live Gold subscribers as part of the Fall Update.
