Facebook Collects Tons of Data and Still Can’t Cut It for Advertisers

What is wrong here is that, despite its impressive accumulation of users and data, Facebook is still unsophisticated in packaging this information for advertisers. This is similar to what we are seeing in all social media, which is really still in its infancy when it comes to advertising. The problem is that marketers are looking at this as another way of communicating in a mass way when people consume social media in a different way than they consume mass media.

Whoops! Warner Brothers app was mistakenly released in U.S.

  • Warner Bros. seemingly threw a bone to cord-cutters and mobile TV watchers on Friday with the release of an app for hit shows such as “Gossip Girl” and “The Big Bang Theory.” It turns out, not so much. The company pulled the app from the U.S. iTunes store shortly after it was made available.

Dish Network Ordered to Change Social Media Policy

  • The National Labor Relations Board has ordered Dish to change a “Social Media” policy in the employee handbook that prevented workers from making disparaging or defamatory comments about the company. Additionally, the NLRB has slapped Dish for exercising too much control over the way its employees interact with media and government agencies.

Sean Parker, Ari Emanuel And Oliver Luckett’s theAudience Raises $20M To Help Celebs Navigate Social Media

  • TechCrunch has learned, theAudience has found a nice chunk of change to support its growing social media content network, as the company confirmed today that it has closed a $20 million round of series A funding. The round’s investors include Founders Fund, Guggenheim Partners, Participant Media, Capricorn Investment Group and Intertainment Media.
