TV stations cashing in on elections, but ready for season to end
SNL Kagan, which monitors media finances, estimates that TV political ad revenue is up 68% over the 2008 election, likely reflecting the many ads financed by super PACs.
The total ad revenue for all stations is expected to climb to $2.6 billion, $1 billion more than in 2008.
Revenue for the top 10 publicly held TV affiliate groups jumped 57.5%, to $625.3 million.
Of this group, Journal Communications Inc. “should see the highest growth vs. 2008,” according to SNL Kagan.
