FOX was number one Saturday with adults 18-49, but CBS won with total viewers, with “48 Hours” on CBS the top show with 5.26M viewers.

Major TV networks all spending less time on coverage of Barack Obama’s second Presidential inauguration. Regular programming will resume as early as 3p.m. Monday on many networks, some of which slashed their inauguration coverage by 40%.

DLD 2013: TV advertising to get smart

What smart TV needs to crack, said Glam’s chief executive, Samir Arora, is discovery. “In the cable business, you have access to power and place that the user will need. But the people who are best at content discovery today, that’s not the guide – it is Apple, then Facebook, then Twitter and then maybe Google (they are good at search but not discovery).”

  • NFL Network increasing Super Bowl coverage to 140 hours

 NFL Network will announce Tuesday sweeping increases in its on-air Super Bowl TV coverage, including a 10 1/2-hour pregame show, which, along with a 3 1/2-hour post-game show, means NFLN will have 14 hours of game-day coverage — up two hours over last year.

  • NHL’s return sees best regular-season TV ratings in a decade

NBC announced Sunday the overnight ratings from Saturday’s action were very strong, carrying a 2.0. That’s the best overnight rating for a regular-season NHL game that wasn’t a Winter Classic in more than a decade, back in 2002 when the NHL was on ABC. It was up 67 percent from last season’s average broadcast rating.
